On Road Truck

Harrybilt Engineering can fit a rail guidance system to various models of trucks.


Conformance


  • Rail wheels adjustable to Standard and Broad Gauges
  • The gauge will be set to the customer’s request prior to leaving the Harrybilt plant
  • All wheels meet the P/D ratio
  • All wheels are insulated
  • All wheels mounted on flexitor arms to provide twist regulation compliance
  • Primary Braking done by original rubber wheel rear axle. Brakes will provide required deceleration of 1.1m/s2 in tare and 1.0m/s2 when loaded and hold a minimum 1.30 grade
  • Machine conforms to relevant sections of AS7500 series standards


Operation


  • Wheel sets are raised and lowered hydraulically
  • Front suspension held up by axle locks when in rail mode
  • Emergency hand pump to raise and lower wheels
  • All controls for the hydraulic system located in driver’s cabin
  • Proximity switches with indicator lights showing wheel position fully raised or fully lowered
  • Automatically engaging road travel mechanical lock
  • Speed limiter activated when the rail gear is engaged


Construction


  • Fabrication and alterations have been manufactured to relevant sections of Australian Standard AS1554.1 – Welding of Steel Structures (Class ‘GP')
  • Wheels machined in Australia from Australian standard 4140 billets
  • All materials conforming to Australian standards
  • Hydraulic cylinders with hard piped counter balance valves
  • All hydraulic work is carried out to Australian standard AS2788 Hydraulic Fluid Power – General
  • All hoses conform to Australian standards AS3791


Documentation


  • Test documentation supplied for the following,
  • Twist test
  • Brake performance test
  • Rolling stock outline test
  • Alignment test
