Egli Mast Foundation Grapple

Fast and Precise Excavation for Rail and Track Construction

Egli mast foundation grapples are designed for excavators working in rail and civil construction, providing a specialised solution for fast, precise excavation of mast foundation holes. By enabling faster excavation and reducing manual handling, they help lower operating costs while improving overall job efficiency, allowing crews to complete more foundations per shift with greater consistency.

Built for demanding environments, Egli grapples deliver reliable performance across rail infrastructure, foundation work, and civil projects, even under high loads and challenging ground conditions.

By improving excavation efficiency in foundation work, Egli mast foundation grapples help:

  • Increase productivity on repetitive foundation excavation tasks
  • Reduce cycle times and operator effort
  • Improve accuracy and consistency of excavation
  • Minimise wear and stress on the machine
  • Help crews complete more foundations per shift with less rework

Key Features and Advantages

.

  • Centralised high-pressure hydraulic cylinder capable of operating at up to 350 bar for powerful, stable performance
  • Hardox steel shell construction for durability in high-wear conditions
  • Large 190L shell capacity for efficient excavation and material handling
  • Continuous 360° rotation for precise positioning on site
  • Slim shell profile for reduced penetration resistance
  • External linkage design allowing full material fill without internal obstruction

Applications

.

Egli mast foundation grapples are primarily used in:

  • Rail and track construction projects
  • Mast foundation excavation
  • Civil infrastructure and foundation work
  • Repetitive excavation tasks requiring precision and consistency
  • How the Grapple Works

Egli mast foundation grapples are designed to deliver consistent, repeatable excavation performance for foundation work.

At the core of the attachment is a centrally located hydraulic cylinder, capable of operating at up to 350 bar, providing powerful and stable closing force while minimising lateral stress on the system.

The grapple features Hardox steel shells and an optimised geometry that allows the full 190L capacity to be utilised without internal obstruction, ensuring efficient material handling on each cycle.

A robust rotary system enables continuous 360° rotation, allowing precise positioning and control when excavating foundation holes in confined or repetitive work environments.

Together, these design elements allow operators to excavate accurately and consistently, even under high loads and challenging ground conditions.

  • Why Not Use a Standard Excavator Bucket?

While standard buckets can be used for general excavation, they are not designed for precision foundation work, particularly in rail and infrastructure environments.

Mast foundation grapples provide a more controlled and efficient solution:

    • Improved accuracy – designed for consistent, repeatable hole dimensions
    • Faster cycle times – optimised for repetitive excavation tasks
    • Better control – precise positioning and handling during excavation
    • Reduced rework – minimises the need to reshape or correct excavation
    • Lower operator effort – reduces strain compared to manual shaping with a bucket

In applications where consistency, speed, and control are critical, a purpose-built grapple significantly outperforms a standard bucket.
