Tie Down Point

We Are Back For 2025!

Restoring a 120 Year Old Tram Car

Working alongside the team at Ballarat Tramway Museum, Harrybilt was assigned with translating 60-year-old drawings and parts to assemble a tram bogie.

This bogie, built to modern safety standards, will support a 120-year-old tram car, which has been beautifully restored by Ballarat Tramway Museum. The tram will operate on the historic Lake Wendouree Tourist Tram Line.

DT Infrastructure H20 S Series Rail Machine & Rail Maintenance Attachments

DT Infrastructure have recently purchased the H20 S Series Rail Machine with the following Rail Maintenance Attachments; 14t Cribbing Bucket, Fork Grab, Tamper No.2, 4 in 1 Bucket 1800mm, Heavy Duty Rail Threader, Platypus and 4m 16t Rail Trailer with most of these Attachments transported in a Rail Attachment Holding Stand.

Harrybilt Engineering have built a strong relationship with DTI and we are delighted to be supporting them in their current and upcoming projects.

Trailer Testing

Harrybilt Engineering has an onsite testing facility to conduct compliance testing for network registration. Last week, the team were testing a 16t 4m Flat Deck Trailer. All equipment is rail ready when leaving the workshop.

We are back for 2024!

Sending many more Rail Maintenance Attachments overseas to places like New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, the UK and more.
Completing more Stock Road Rail Vehicles that have allowed our customers a quick turnaround for Rail Machine orders.
Continued partnership with product and Excavator brands such as Hitachi, Komatsu and Engcon to provide turnkey solutions for our customers, along with the operational support in the field.
We were able to continue our growth, increasing our staff throughout 2023. We have increased our workshop staff in the stores, fabrication and hydraulics areas to meet this increased demand in the Rail Industry.
The implementation of a new Manufacturing Software System that has provided improvements in our internal processes, work flow and efficiency.

We have many plans for another successful year that we look forward to achieving together and are keen to get back to work and see what 2024 will bring.

We have been working closely with the team at Mulcahy & Co to improve our website.

We are hoping it will be easier to navigate and are currently in the process of developing a new online Spare Parts system coming soon!

AusRail Plus 2023

Thank you to all those who came and visited our stand at AusRail in Sydney last week. We had great conversations with visitors, delegates and other exhibitors at the show. It was an informative and worthwhile experience for us to help keep up to date with the advances in technology and forward thinking in the Rail Industry.

We had three of our Rail Maintenance Attachments on display; the Mini Bullant, the Lightweight Tamper No.2 and the Heavy Duty Rail Threader. It was great to be able to have our products for people to see as all three Attachments have been customised to suit customer requirements.

Hi Brid Rail System

The team at Harrybilt Engineering have been gaining more experience installing the Hi Brid Rail System on various 14t - 17t excavator brands. Recently, this unique system has been installed on two Liebherr A914 compacts' for Pilbara Rail Maintenance allowing these excavators to run on both standard and narrow gauges.

4WD Hi Rail System

We have recently completed a 4WD Hi Rail System on a 14t Hitachi ZX135US-5 Tracked Excavator. After discussions with customers and observing the rail market, the team decided to investigate the 4WD upgrade option on our Hi Rail System with great success.

The benefit of a 4WD excavator is that it provides extra torque and additional pull capacity to drag lengths of rail. Double what the 2WD can do and have a little room for more.

300th Platypus

Harrybilt Engineering is celebrating the completion of their 300th Platypus; a Standard Blade Platypus heading to a customer in Western Australia. This particular Platypus has been painted blue instead of our standard yellow due to customer requirements.

This Rail Maintenance Attachment has evolved into many variations since the first Platypus in 2007. These include the Mini Rubber Jaw Platypus, Standard Blade with Clip Pusher and Grab, Wide Blade 250 Cut Out Clip Pusher and Grab and the Large Platypus with 2750 Wide Blade.

The team look forward to seeing what the next 300 Platypus' look like with the help of customer feedback and our in house engineering team.

6m Trailers and Sleeper Grabs to PRM in Western Australia

At the end of last week, Harrybilt Engineering completed and shipped six 6m Trailers and two Sleeper Grabs to Pilbara Rail Maintenance.

The 6m trailer provides a 20t gross trailer mass with a tare weight of only 2,800kg for easy loading and unloading on and off the rail. The Sleeper Grab is designed to pick up 16 sleepers from a standard stack, providing a fast and efficient method for unloading and moving sleeper stock.

The team are keen to see these products in action when they get to PRM in Karratha, Western Australia.

Mini Pole Grab

Harrybilt Engineering are proud to present the Mini Pole Grab that has recently been added to their product range. This attachment suits 7t-12t Excavators and Backhoe Loaders and has been designed to safely and efficiently pick up, lift and handle round loads or beams.

Thank you to all those who came and visited our stand at AusRail. It was an informative and worthwhile experience for us to help keep up to date with the advances in technology and forward thinking in the Rail Industry.

We had two of our customised Rail Maintenance Attachments, the Mini Bullant and the Mini Pole Grab on display at our stall. It was great to be able to show everyone these Attachments as they have been recently added to our product range.

After a few years on the track, some parts may need repairs or replacing but the main body is still up for more hard work.

These Excavators ranged from 7t – 17t Hitachi Machines and included Hi Rail, Hi Brid and Rail Guidance System conversions as well as providing a variety of our Rail Maintenance Attachments. We have completed the last Hi Rail System of this project for Allworks which was fitted with an engcon Tiltrotator and Harrybilt’s own Height & Slew Control System, delivering the machine ready to go to work.

Before we started this project, we had converted 13 of Allworks’ excavators to run on rail and we look forward to continuing to work with the team to provide more Rail Conversions and Rail Maintenance Attachments in the future.
